Taos Mountain Balloon Rally 2009

If you prefer smaller crowds (way smaller!!!), come to Taos. This year, the rally expects over 30 balloons to share the fund and vistas of what amounts to historic flight.

CAUTION! The correct and only official website is http://www.taosballoonrally.com/. Someone has hijacked the correct name. WARNING, and you may contact viruses or other unfortunate situations or circumstances from that other site.

You want to plan on spending a long weekend as the rally starts Friday morning with a mini assension at 7:15 AM for invited pilots. A dawn patrol launches earlier around 6 AM. Those actions will be followed by tethered balloon rides at Salazar Field and select locations in the Taos area starting around 8:30 AM. From 4 to 10 PM, there is a no host reception at the Sagebrush Convention Center behind the Comfort Suites about 2 miles South of Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza.

Saturday, the dawn patrol flies around 6 AM followed by a mass assension from 7:15 to 8 AM. Saturday, a parade will occur downtown at 1 PM. What some folks love the most is at dusk, weather permitting, is the balloomenshine or balloon glow.

Sunday repesats Saturday mornings activities with the dawn patrol and mass assension. You are all invited to visit pilots and crews during the festivities. It also gets you out to see the colors which are already fading but still great to look at. The colors around Pilar are really good this week. Stop and enjoy on your way to or back from Taos (if you're driving up from the South).

With our very affordable specials, Indian Hills Inn, Taos plaza invites you to spend 4 nights with us this week (or most any other). Pay 3 nights, the 4th is FREE. Plus we are offering great rates from $49 (a few rooms) to $69 for 1 or 2 Guests. As our normal reminder, those rates are ONLY available direct. You can't get those values anywhere online. www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn or 800-444-2346.

It's not too soon to book your Thanksgiving weekend ski/shop trip to Taos! Thanks for reading. Let us know what you think, post a comment!
