Do You Take Time To Absorb Sunsets?

Many folks are running, doing, going so fast that they may forget to enjoy some of the beauties of life. Sunsets are one of my favorites that I may have missed when too busy.

In Taos, there are loads of spots to get incredible vistas of everything from mountains to gorges to sunrises to sunsets. I have three favorite places for the sunset end of things.

First, from the lobby of Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza, you can be blown away by the sunset view out the front of the lobby. The numerous firey hues and shapes of colorful skies and clouds can be quite majestic. An amazing view from the middle of downtown. Last fall, we had several couples out in the grassy courtyard watching the scene unfold at susnset.

Second, is a short hiking trail at the mouth of the canyon that US 64 emerges from the East into Taos valley. Desedero Loop trail (sp) gets you up to the top of the first ridge East of the foothills. From there, you can see from almost Los Alamos to far above Tres Piedras. A great place to take a 30 minute hike, bring a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers, your favorite partner and enjoy!

Third, we have one couple who visits Taos on their aniversary, stays with us, and dines at Stakeout. The views from Stakeout are awesome any time but especially at sunset and preferably when the sunset is spectacular. The food is as good as you’ll find, the drinks are delicious, and the sunsets are indescribable.

Don’t forget to enjoy what the world offers. Don’t miss it!

And book early as July is usually one of Taos’ busier months. As an example, many hotels are already full for the weekend of the 10th & 11th.
Book direct with us or the hotel of your choice. Saves us both $$$. Book online at www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn . We are your best choice for Taos lodging! 800-444-2346. Thanks for your business and referrals!
