Town of Taos Looks at Festival Weekend Events

For those of you who visit Taos and have strong opinions, a letter to the Mayor, the town Council, the Town Manager, the Chamber of Commerce, the Taos News would be good. Post a comment here on the blog. Send me an email that I can package and forward.

There is some discussion about limiting weekend Festivals. Part of that issue has been raised by some area merchants who believe the festivals detract from their retail business.

Many if not most of our Guests have told us that downtown traffic is a far worse issue than festival weekends. One traffic solution long opposed by area merchants is making Paseo del Pueblo Norte Northbound only and Placitas Southbound only. That idea makes traffic flow with two lanes northbound and Southbound through the middle of downtown where it is now restricted to 1 lane each direction on each street.

If you believe that idea is better than restricting festivals, write on. Like many governmental issues, many people may complain but few invest the energy to make comments. I ask and invite you to do so.

As usual, we also invite you to visit Taos soon. Skiing is great. Weather has been cool but sunny many days. In town temps are warmer than on the mountains. The good snow we've enjoyed point to very good rafting come April and the summer.

When you select your home away from home, we invite you to Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza. From our centrally located hotel, you'll find easy access to all downtown sights, museums, shops, galleries, and entertainment places. Rooms are all clean, comfortable, the deluxe king rooms are far above area average. Best of all, we are your affordable downtown choice. Book us while you can. www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn is the place to take a peek at us. Then call 800-444-2346 to reserve. One caller told us that our front desk team is exceptionally good at selling the Taos area and the inn. May we add you to our list of satisfied Guests?
