December Events Continue in Taos
First, may I ask everyone to do their snow dance. NM is experiencing a drought. Taos and Sipapu are opn with somewhat limited terrain. Frankly, our weather has been so good I'd suggest bringing your bicycles along and enjoying a ride or two. Or bring the hiking boots and experince so of our great trails along the Rio Grande Gorge or in the foothills close to Town.
Friday, December 10, 2010 is the Kit Carson Road Yuletide Party with refreshments and drawings at the shops and galleries along Kit Carson. That includes Lenny Fosters new location at 107 Kit Carson. Those folks will welcome visitors throughout December.
Saturday, December 11, 2010 the Lighting of Ledoux Street occurs along with the grand openning of The Harwood Museum.
Sunday, December 12, 2010 is a fundraiser for a long time local Fenny Lipscomb at KTAO Solar Center from 4 to 8 PM.Many local musician favorites are performing. A huge silent auction including art from Larry Bell, Ron Cooper, Pat Woodall, Lenny Foster, and MANY others is happening. http://www.feenysfriends.com/
Taos Center for the Arts brings Taos programs such as the Metropolitan Opera Live, National Theater of London Live, Movies at TCA, Chamber Music, and MANY more. TCA depends upon the generous support of locals and visitors both attending and buying tickets AND making generous year end donations. Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza appreciates our friends support of this fine Taos area organization. As many of you know, we discount Guests lodging by half the cost of one ticket per room. We also donate rooms for both working teams and entertainment groups visiting TCA. If all our viewers donate even a small amount of $25 (or more), you will make a significant difference in the 2011 program strength.
If you are a skier on a budget, Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza is about to join Sipapu in their Town Free Lodging promotion. With some limitations, when you buy your Sipapu $39 lift ticket from Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza, you'll get free lodging. The general offer is available from now until Sipapu closes April 2011. During peak periods we do add a small charge but it will be FAR less than the cost/value of lodging at those peak periods. Generall double occupancy is required but we'll soften that stance for non peak Sundays thru Thursday nights. Just another way Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza offers you Taos Best Lodging Value.

Stick around for the evening with TCA's Music From Angel Fire Chamber Music Festival. It's their 27th season of world class chamber music. Call 888-377-3300 or visit http://www.musicfromangelfire.org/ .
While at TCA, you'll enjoy Robert Parker's "Art Into Architecture" thru September 24th at the Encore Gallery.
TCA presents the Metropolitan Opera HD Live series. 12 shows transmitted for this years series. Call the ticket office 575-758-2052 of visit http://www.tcataos.org/.
Hope you enjoy all Taos has to offer. Ask at the desk for other goings on. Google Taos Calendar for several added activities.
Perhaps one of the best Guest comments is the silent one, the returning, repeat Guest who doesn't blog, Facebook, Twitter, or do online stuff. They just keep returning and referring. Yesterday, I overheard several reservations calls that were returning Guests. We really appreciate your confidence in our small business and wanted to say thanks again!

Taos Center for the Arts presents Native Cinema Showcase Taos screening of "Reel Injun". A number of famed hollywood actors participate in this entertaining look back at the portrayal of the North American Natives through a 100 years of movies. Tickets are $10 and available at TCA 575-758-2053. Showtime is this Wednesday, August 18, 2010, 7:30 PM at Taos Community Auditorium.
School has started for many school districts so traffic is a bit slower. Shorter waits, easier traffic, still loads to see and do in and around the Taos area. They're still river rafting althought the flow rate is lower and the thrill level is a bit more modest. A search of Taos will yield loads of things to see and do. Note: if those plans include back country driving, hiking, or biking, remember this is our monsoon season. Sudden downpours can change conditions quickly. Be like the boy scout motto - be prepared.
As usual with TCA events, Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza is the ONLY hotel who'll discount your room by half the ticket price. Bring in your stub. We'll take half the ticket cost for 1 ticket off your room rate. Only 1 discount per night of stay. Not available with any other specials or discounts. Half priced entertainment is just the ticket!
We may have a little commotion around the Inn for the next couple weeks. We're getting new fresh carpet. Biggest question from Guests has been the oldest carpet in the 2 queen rooms. Problem/question soon to be answered. Thanks for your patience.

TCA January 2010 Activities
Taos Center for the Arts and Taos Community Auditorium are generally synonymous. I shorten them to TCA. Sunday the 17th, TCA presents guitarist Leo Kottke at 7 PM. Tickets are going fast. Plan to add another night to your Taos visit. Visit www.tcataos.org or call 575-758-2052.
TCA recently acquired a donation of original Gorman oil on canvas triptych from about 1974. Appraised at $60,000, TCA will consider reasonable offers. That fantastic art can be yours! Visit the web site above or click here: http://www.tcataos.org/news/view/32. Imagine the programs you will create by your purchase of that Gorman piece!
Over the holidays, we had a number of Guests extend their visit by up to 4 nights. What that says is we are providing comfortable rooms, exceptional service, from Taos' best location, at Guest oriented prices (and our holiday rates were maximum). Check us out at www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn. Reserve direct at 800-444-2346. We'll generally match any valid price you find online. Just print a copy and show it at check in or email a copy and we'll work with you via email.
