Hotel Linens, Towels, Beds

We've just taken a short trip. The hotel where we're staying has perhaps the worst towels of any trip we've experienced. So bad that we went to the local Walmart and bought towels for the stay.

The reason I'm mentioning that experience is that at Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza, you'll love our towels, linens, and beds. According to some of our suppliers, our towels are at least 3 Star or Diamond level. We buy a good quality, fair sized set of towels. Our standards are likely similar to the towels you'd find at a high end of mid range such as Marriott. You won't need to visit a local retailer to find better towels.

Beds are not always top quality in smaller or independent properties. I've heard of folks in this business spending the lowest amount possible for beds. We take the approach that you'll spend as much time in the bed as anywhere else at Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza. Hence, we buy good quality relatively firm beds. Then, we top them with 2" memory foam mattress toppers. Then use a quality mattress pad. We triple sheet our beds for cleanliness and Guest comfort. We even use some color coordinated decorater pattern sheets, pillow cases, and comfortors.

Our housekeeping team takes pride in providing Guests with clean, comfortable, professionally done rooms. I hope you'll choose us for your next Taos visit whether for skiing, rafting, sight seeing, visiting family, or business. You'll find our web site at: www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn. We also ask that you book direct to save us both money. 800-444-2346.

Enchanted Circle Gateway Museum, Eagle Nest

The Enchanted Circle has another museum of note that offers visitors another view of the history and culture of the North Central Sange de Christo Mountains. This one highlights the area's mining and rail road history and showcases some interesting "green" building technology. They are in the midst of constructing a new facility while simultaneously fundraising.

The museum tells the story of mining in the Moreno valley which has a rich history back to the late 1800's. They also direct visitors to gold panning excursions out of Red River on a seasonal basis. The excursions are part of the museum's fund raising program.

Here's a link to their website: http://www.gatewaymuseum.org/uploads/GatewayMuseumBrochure.pdf . From there, they have a link to their brochure. Call for their schedule and more information: 575-377-1504. Their email is info@gatewaymuseum.org.

The Enchanted Circle is a great day trip out of Taos. We've posted a number of blogposts about the Circle and related sights. This is just another example of interesting things to see and do while you are in Taos. It's another reason why you need to plan more than just a day or two in Taos. Give me a week and we'll keep you well entertained.

Make your home in downtown Taos at Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza. You'll be centrally located in the heart of Taos. Town of Taos Looks at Festival Weekend Events

For those of you who visit Taos and have strong opinions, a letter to the Mayor, the town Council, the Town Manager, the Chamber of Commerce, the Taos News would be good. Post a comment here on the blog. Send me an email that I can package and forward.

There is some discussion about limiting weekend Festivals. Part of that issue has been raised by some area merchants who believe the festivals detract from their retail business.

Many if not most of our Guests have told us that downtown traffic is a far worse issue than festival weekends. One traffic solution long opposed by area merchants is making Paseo del Pueblo Norte Northbound only and Placitas Southbound only. That idea makes traffic flow with two lanes northbound and Southbound through the middle of downtown where it is now restricted to 1 lane each direction on each street.

If you believe that idea is better than restricting festivals, write on. Like many governmental issues, many people may complain but few invest the energy to make comments. I ask and invite you to do so.

As usual, we also invite you to visit Taos soon. Skiing is great. Weather has been cool but sunny many days. In town temps are warmer than on the mountains. The good snow we've enjoyed point to very good rafting come April and the summer.

When you select your home away from home, we invite you to Indian Hills Inn, Taos Plaza. From our centrally located hotel, you'll find easy access to all downtown sights, museums, shops, galleries, and entertainment places. Rooms are all clean, comfortable, the deluxe king rooms are far above area average. Best of all, we are your affordable downtown choice. Book us while you can. www.newmex.com/indianhillsinn is the place to take a peek at us. Then call 800-444-2346 to reserve. One caller told us that our front desk team is exceptionally good at selling the Taos area and the inn. May we add you to our list of satisfied Guests?
